7 Burning Questions the 'Gilmore Girls' Revival on Netflix Needs to Answer

It's happening! Thanks to the powers that be at Netflix, we're finally getting that much-anticipated Gilmore Girls reboot that's been on fans' minds ever since the series ended. We've all imagined what the lives of our favorite Stars Hollow residents are like in the present day, but it seems we'll finally get the closure we deserve. I've got 7 burning questions below that Amy Sherman-Palladino and squad better be prepared to answer when my favorite mother-daughter duo returns.

1. What happened with Luke and Lorelai?

I won't settle for that "sealed with a kiss" crap the series finale left us with. I want to know if they're married. Do they have kids of their own? Did Luke's daughter die in a terrible canoeing accident? The whole shebang.

2. Can Logan Huntzberger put his Good Wife life on hold for a quick rendezvous with Rory?

The answer to this better be yes. I still stand by the philosophy that Rory realized the error of her proposal-rejecting ways rather immediately. But if we don't see this pair on screen in the revival episodes, I'll be crushed.

3. What's Jess up to?

Shippers will flip if Jess doesn't return to stir up a little trouble-with-a-side-of-romance in Rory's life. I totally wouldn't mind a Jess/Rory/Logan triangle either. (Don't even think about it, Dean.)

4. How is Emily dealing with the loss of Richard?

I am, of course, assuming that Richard has passed. That's the only logical explanation for his absence. And I'm guessing this will make Emily even more of a handful than she was previously.

5. Can we pretty please have a little Sookie?

Melissa McCarthy, I know you're a busy woman. But since we didn't get any Sookie at the ATX reunion panel, I'm going to need you to show up for this, okay? Rearrange your sched and do what it takes to make this happen.

6. Why did Paris cut her hair?

How to Get Away with Murder's Bonnie Winterbottom has a drastically shorter 'do than Paris Geller. Sure, she might get extensions, but I'll need a full explanation as to how killing someone has changed Rory's BFF.

7. What kind of cool things do Lorelai and Rory have to say about our era of pop culture? 

GG creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's witty dialogue on all things pop culture was a staple of this show. So, I've got to know what Lorelai and Rory think of pumpkin spice lattes among other hot topics of our day and age.

Styled By Me: Fall Fairytale Weddings

I just attended what I believe will be my last wedding for the year, and it was spectacular! Let me just tell you: summer weddings are overrated, people. Because in the fall, the cotton maxi dresses fly out the window, and luxe fabrics like tulle and velvet take center stage. I have never felt more like a fairy princess than I did in this LC Runway Collection dress, which is still available at Kohl's.

When I'm prepping my wedding guest attire, I like to scope out the vibe of not only the wedding itself but the bride and groom. I knew this would be a formal and oh-so-classy affair, so it seemed like the perfect setting to go all out. The dress was really the showstopper of this ensemble, so I kept my shoes simple with these strappy nude heels. I chose rose gold accessories exclusively to accent the soft, muted colors of the dress: the deep blue velvet top and the blush-tinted skirt. Waved hair at the ready, I raced to a night filled with laughter, joy and love, love, love. Here's hoping this fall wedding trend takes off!

The 10 Best Dressed at the 2015 Emmys

Last night's Emmys were all about the girl power, and that sentiment definitely translated into the fashions we saw on the red carpet. Some celebs stuck with the tried and true while others pushed the envelope in ways that utterly delighted me. Below, I'm counting down my 10 favorite looks.

10. Mindy Kaling in Salvador Perez

Mindy knows what works for her body, and she smartly relies on her Mindy Project costume designer for custom gowns like this one. Did I mention how much I love the bright yellow, something I don't think we've seen on Mindy before?

9. Emma Roberts in Jenny Packham

Simple blush gowns, especially those crafted by Jenny Packham, never get old.

8. Ellie Kemper in Naeem Khan

So what if the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star wasn't nominated for an Emmy? The intricate design of this dress makes her in a winner in my book.

Have I seen this silhouette a million times before? Of course. Does that make it any less stunning on Laverne? Not at all.

You CAN Wear White After Labor Day

Well, Labor Day has come and gone. I guess that means summer is finally winding down, though the heat in Tennessee doesn't seem to be following suit. This week, I felt it my duty to debunk a long-held fashion rule that we all know by heart. Below, I've compiled some of my favorite white ensembles to be worn past that silly Labor Day benchmark. Fashion is only interesting if we defy conventions and make it our own. So I'm challenging you to take on those critics who think this no-white-after-Labor-Day thing is still law. Here's some inspiration to help you prove them wrong and don white right on through the fall season.

A white turtleneck and sleek pencil skirt scream sophistication. 

Pair your newly acquired fall favorites with those white jeans you've been living in all summer.

Take a walk on the wild side with that white coat you've been coveting from afar. If you're trying to avoid an all-white palette, consider adding pops of color with your accessories.

White shoes are supposedly the biggest no-no of them all. But a ban on my white converse would *literally* shake my fashion game.

'PLL' React: That 'A' Reveal Could've Been Much Worse

Well, after five-and-a-half long seasons of torture, anonymous texts, and way too many dots to connect, A was finally revealed on last night's summer finale of Pretty Little Liars. What had previously been dubbed the #SummerofAnswers came down to a single night of answers shoved into one majorly crammed hour. 

Here's the thing: no matter who was behind that black hoodie, faithful fans of PLL were going to be disappointed. If you've been watching the show since the beginning like I have, you've been through the series of buildups and letdowns that come with the territory. And whether you meant to or not, you've likely spent hours in your own head theorizing who this mythically intelligent and insanely loaded character could be. Like, you should be in Radley right now you've thought about it so much.

The only logical avenue for Marlene King to take was pinning these disconnected plot points on someone we already knew. Imagine if a face we'd never seen or a character we barely recognized tried to own up to everything in this episode. Then the fans really would've been angry. I think it's rather obvious at this point that A has been a lot of different people to the writers over time. There wasn't nearly the planning put in to make this a seamless reveal, a fact that could be seen in the oddly forced flashback sequences of last night's episode. Look at How I Met Your Mother. Whether you hate the show's ending or... oh wait, there's no other option but to hate it. Anyway, those showrunners knew their endgame from the beginning and never strayed from it. The same cannot be said for the PLL team. 

So while I wasn't gasping for air the way I did when we came #FacetoFace with Ezra or even Toby, this reveal could've been a lot worse. And I have to applaud Marlene for finally cutting the crap and sticking to a real conclusion for this arc. Sure, I was still hoping Aria or Sara or some other totally out-of-left-field character would be our Big A. But CeCe's story seemed about as organic and realistic as this series could deliver. 

There are still so many questions, and I hope they don't get brushed under the rug with this five year time jump. I'm also glad, though, that the show didn't have CeCe commit suicide in any easy-way-out plot twist. Do I think that another character was meant to be Big A when this series began? Yes. (Personally think they were going the way of Ali's twin until they got bashed for playing too close to the books with the Mona reveal.) But do I also believe they did the best they could with a completely twisted situation I never thought they'd be able to write their way out of? Yep. 

Now, there's but one thing we can do. Commence series rewatch and fact checking expedition!

5 Life Lessons Her Conference Taught Me

As anyone who follows me on Twitter or Instagram could probably tell, I traveled to New York last weekend for the annual Her Campus event, Her Conference. Now I knew that this was going to be an all-out extravaganza for a magazine-obsessed writer like myself, but I never could've imagined how much I would take away from the experience of meeting a myriad of strong females making it happen in the industry.

Whether I was hearing from the editors of my favorite women's magazines or entry-level writers who are taking over the digital landscape, I was in awe of the wisdom each of these ladies had to share. Which is why I couldn't help but pass it on. Below you'll find 5 life lessons Her Conference taught me.

1. Trust what got you here.

Michelle Tan, the lovely and outright hilarious editor-in-chief of Seventeen, was a huge hit with Her Conference attendees. But the thing she said that really stuck with me was this nugget on being confident. When you're doubting yourself and your ability to succeed, you have to trust what got you to where you are now. And know that everything you've done up until this moment was right because it got you here!

2. You can start anywhere.

I think we all leave college thinking that we'll land right in our dream job. But it's totally okay if that doesn't happen immediately. Refinery29's Neha Gandhi emphasized that you don't have to be where you ultimately want to end up on Day 1. You just need to be somewhere that is teaching you and helping you grow in whatever your passion is. You've got time to bounce around and figure things out. Remember: dream big, start small. 

3. HUSTLE.

This was definitely the go-to word from nearly every speaker. You have to work really hard and prove your worth to the people who can help move you forward. That requires a whole lot of passion, drive, and most of all hustle! Be tenacious and don't let the struggle get you down.

4. You are the only person who brings what you bring to the table.

I think it's easy to forget that we all have unique talents to share with the world. Lisa Arbetter from People Stylewatch made this point, and it really hit home for me. Especially when you are trying to achieve in a creative discipline, it seems like everyone else in your field is exactly the same as--or better than--you. But we have to remember that we each offer something different and special to the world outside ourselves. And rather than tear down those people who share our aspirations, let's support and look out for them because we're in the same boat.

5. Actually I can.

There were so many wonderful feminist role models at this conference that it's hard to even explain how my heart was exploding. Cosmopolitan's Laura Brounstein spoke on behalf of the Actually She Can campaign and inspired this large crowd of women to go for it. In her own brilliant words, "It's okay to put yourself forward. Guys do it. Smart girls do it." And in that moment, I found my new life goal. If you're like me, you tend to waste opportunities by being the shy and, perhaps polite, contender. Not anymore! You can currently find me cheering myself on as I attempt to conquer this thing called adulting. 

 

Why 'Trainwreck' is the One Movie Every Woman Needs to See this Summer

Filthy R-rated comedies are usually not my cup of tea. But I am quickly becoming a major Amy Schumer fan, with her appearance on The Bachelorette only making her more relatable and hilarious in my eyes. So that, along with the movie's stellar trailer, is what compelled me to see Trainwreck. 

And I'm glad to say I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It's clearly meant to be a rom com, and in that arena it does not disappoint. But Trainwreck also has plenty to offer the guys. With an abundance of sports cameos and crude yet charming jokes, men can easily be entertained by this movie, too. I'm begging you to leave your boys at home, though, ladies.

Because this one's really for the feminists in us all, and you'll enjoy Amy's amazing depiction of a modern, complex woman so much more if you're watching it play out with your gal pals. I certainly don't want to spoil this gem for you, but I must point out the way that Amy takes the classically, cliched woman found in romantic comedies and spins her basis on its head.

Sure, she's still a clumsy, bumbling, emotionally-stunted woman. But she makes this stereotype cool again. Amy is unapologetic, and while her character is not a one-size-fits-all representation of women, she at the very least demonstrates both the complexities and joys of being female. And that, my friends, is progress. 

Welcome Home

Life has been very hectic since graduation. But with that cap and gown, I knew that something else inevitable was coming: the demise of Must Haves for Undergrads. After all, I'm not an undergraduate student anymore, so the entire concept of the site no longer made sense in my Type A mind. And don't even get me started on the tangent of how fed up I was with Tumblr. So I decided it was time for a change.

Which brings me to my brand new website. I am so excited to be branching out to Squarespace. With that comes the opportunity to not only expand my platform but make it cleaner and easier to use. And while my past endeavor was simply fashion-focused, this site will bring you that same style expertise you've been craving along with pop culture, entertainment, television, celebrity, and opinion pieces.
